A lot of my friends ask me how I get up and workout so early in the morning. Well, with two small children I know if I do not get up and get my workout in before they wake up, I might not get a workout in. I am definitely a better Mom when I get one in. Research has also shown us a morning workout jump starts your metabolism. Plus
you are more likely to make healthy eating choices through out the day with all that hard work in the morning.
Here are some of my tips to help you jump start your morning routine. Now, I have been doing this for years, so don’t be hard on yourself if you find it difficult at first. Making healthy lifestyle changes that last takes time, it’s not an overnight makeover.

Tips to Jump Start your Routine

1) Set a goal. Make sure it is realistic, something that is achievable and short term. Such as, fitting into a favorite pair of jeans again or running your first 5k.

2) Get a workout buddy. Someone that is there to hold you accountable. It is a lot easier to stay committed knowing you have some one waiting on you.

3) I have my alarm across the room. I find that when I have to get out of the bed and walk across the room to turn it off, I’m less likely to get back into bed.

4) I get my coffee maker ready the evening before so that all I have to do is hit the “on” button first thing.

5) I make sure my workout clothes are clean and laid out the evening before.

6) Reward yourself. Whether it is a glass of wine at the end of the week for working out and eating right all week, or a new outfit for the first 10 pounds lost. It’s good to treat yourself. It helps me stay committed.

7) Have fun with exercise! Go on a family bike ride, take the kids for a nature hike, or work in the yard as a family. You are not only doing something good for you, but you are teaching your children healthy habits as well.
